Rare Earth Prices Remain Stable, Market Trading Activity Weak

Post-Holiday Rare Earth Prices Remain Stable, Market Trading Activity Weak

Before the holiday, due to factors in the news, holders raised their market offers for praseodymium-neodymium oxide, and low-priced supplies tightened rapidly. However, as metal plants had already completed their stockpiling by this time, market procurement intensity significantly decreased. After the holiday, market wait-and-see sentiment spread. Consequently, the actual transaction price for praseodymium-neodymium oxide did not increase substantially.

Rare Earth Ores:

Today, the price range for rare earth carbonate is 45,500 – 45,700 yuan/ton. Monazite price has been adjusted to 52,700 – 53,700 yuan/ton. The price of medium-yttrium-europium-rich ore is approximately 215,000 – 217,000 yuan/ton. Currently, the prices of rare earth ore products are fluctuating slightly along with the oxides. However, the purchasing willingness of separation plants remains poor, and the market trading atmosphere has not shown significant improvement.

Rare Earth Oxides:

Currently, the price of lanthanum oxide is temporarily stable at 4,300 – 4,700 yuan/ton. The price of cerium oxide has also remained stable this week at 11,000 – 11,200 yuan/ton. The price of praseodymium-neodymium oxide has risen to 562,000 – 565,000 yuan/ton. In the medium-to-heavy rare earths sector, the prices of dysprosium oxide and terbium oxide are generally stable. The market price for dysprosium oxide showed a stronger trend, driven by purchases from large plants, and has risen to 1.61 – 1.63 million yuan/ton as of today. The price of terbium oxide remains stable at 7.00 – 7.05 million yuan/ton. The price trend for holmium oxide has also been relatively stable recently, slightly adjusted to 535,000 – 545,000 yuan/ton. The price of erbium oxide is also stable within the range of 334,000 – 335,000 yuan/ton. The price of yttrium oxide remains stable this week within the range of 48,000 – 50,000 yuan/ton, still showing no significant change.

Rare Earth Metals:

Currently, praseodymium-neodymium metal is quoted at 680,000 – 685,000 yuan/ton, showing no significant change compared to pre-holiday prices. Before the holiday, as the holiday approached, most magnet enterprises had basically completed their inventory purchases, leading to generally weak inquiry activity in the metal market. Although some large magnet plants tendered for praseodymium-neodymium metal, the transaction prices were not ideal, and market price expectations for transactions declined further, leading to a slight price decrease for praseodymium-neodymium. After the holiday, due to sufficient inventory levels at magnet enterprises and the impact of macro-policy factors, procurement demand from downstream magnet enterprises appeared weak. Overall market inquiries were sparse, metal companies were less willing to offer quotes, and actual transaction conditions were relatively sluggish, with prices operating steadily overall. In the medium-to-heavy rare earths sector, terbium metal is quoted at 8.65 – 8.70 million yuan/ton, and dysprosium-iron alloy is quoted at 1.56 – 1.57 million yuan/ton. As procurement activity weakened after the holiday, overall market inquiries remained quiet. Prices showed no significant fluctuation compared to the pre-holiday period, and actual transactions operated weakly.

Rare Earth Scrap:

Currently, the price for praseodymium-neodymium content in NdFeB scrap is quoted at 580 – 585 yuan/kg; the price for dysprosium content in NdFeB scrap is quoted at 1,620 – 1,643 yuan/kg; the price for terbium content in NdFeB scrap is quoted at 5,439 – 5,550 yuan/kg. Before the holiday, scrap market prices operated steadily. Although low-priced oxide supplies tightened quickly, driven by restocking purchases from metal enterprises, leading to a slight price increase, the overall increase was limited, and offers from recycling companies did not show significant fluctuations. As the National Day holiday approached, some scrap holders’ willingness to sell increased, the circulation volume in the scrap market increased somewhat, and the actual market trading situation improved. After the holiday, scrap market prices increased slightly, mainly influenced by the slight price increase in the oxide market and the reduction of low-priced scrap supplies. Although recycling companies’ purchasing willingness increased and their offers rose slightly, the scrap market performance was quiet after the holiday return, with overall trading operating weakly, and the scrap circulation volume decreased compared to the pre-holiday period.nd1
